In the article, the historical concepts forwarded by the English historian and philosopher A.J. Toynbee and the Lithuanian historian Z. Ivinskis are compared. The views of the two scientists on Lithuania’s place in the world, regardless of the difference in their scale and significance, were in many cases identical. Both researchers focused on the significance of such aspects, as europeization, christening, religious conflicts and relations with neighbouring countries. Furthermore, both above mentioned scientists seriously regarded the problems of the period of their lifetime and attempted to tackle them in the light of history. |
